Drop-off and Pick-up Guidelines
If you drop off your child before school...
At 7:30, a teacher will unlock the front doors and stand outside to supervise. When a teacher is outside, it is okay to drop off students. Under no circumstances are students to be dropped off before 7:30.
Students should be dropped off at the flagpole using the outer lane. The inner lane is for buses only between the hours of 7:30-8:30am and 2:00-3:00pm.
To ensure a flow of traffic, any parent exiting the vehicle to say good-bye or to walk their child into school is asked to park in a spot to avoid blocking the drop-off lane.
Parents are welcome to park and walk their child to the doors. Any parent who wishes to enter past the vestibule must sign in and receive a visitor tag in the office.
Students dropped off after 8:15am need to be signed in by a parent in the office.
If after-school arrangements change, please call the office by 2:00pm so we can relay information to students and their teacher.
All bus arrangements should be directed to the staff of our contracted bus company, First Student.
First Student can be reached at (217) 903-4013.
If you pick up your child after school...
At 2:45 (first bell), all students who are car-riders gather inside the main entrance.
At 2:48 (second bell), car-riders are walked to the flagpole by the teacher on duty.
Parents and guardians have two options for picking up their child.
1. Park in a space, leave the vehicle, wait at the flagpole, and walk their child back to the vehicle.
2. Remain in the vehicle and pull up to the sidewalk loading area next to the flagpole.
Notes:
Please do not leave your car unless you are in a parking spot. Leaving the vehicle in a non-parking area blocks traffic and delays other parents.
Students are not permitted to leave the area around the flagpole without a parent or guardian (ie. students may not run down the sidewalk to a parked car).
Students who are car riders should be picked up at the flagpole at 2:50pm. On-time pickup is important and appreciated, as there is no scheduled supervision after school.
Our expectations are in place to ensure that pickup is done in a safe and efficient manner.
Please communicate these guidelines to anyone who may pick up your child (ie. grandparents, emergency pickups, etc.).
Your patience and cooperation at pickup time is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jim Carver, Principal
