How does this event benefit Unity East?

Our annual Read-a-thon is the primary fundraiser for Unity East, and the donations raised through this event fund many of the “extras” we all enjoy.

These donations cover the costs of our open house and family night events, assemblies, guest speakers, field day supplies, and rewards like Kona Ice, popcorn, and pizza parties.

The Read-a-thon also funds our mid-year field trips, including the Homer Lake Hatchet program, the 4th-grade courthouse visit, the U of I basketball trip, the choir's holiday nursing home tour, and other off-campus enrichment activities.

Additionally, the fundraiser supports subscriptions our students use daily, such as Starfall, Kahoot!, and GoNoodle. It has also helped purchase books for teachers’ classroom libraries and provided STEM materials for indoor recess.

Unlike many other schools, we do not charge fees for field trips or activities throughout the year. Our schools serve families of all income levels, and we are committed to providing a high-quality experience for all our students without requesting additional payments during the year.

Your support of this program helps make all of this possible. Thank you!
