On April 24th, Unity High School inducted Mala (Bedient) Thapar into the Unity Alumni Hall of Fame in conjunction with the National Honor Society induction ceremony.
Mala is a 2004 graduate of Unity High School where she was a two-term Student Council President, a National Honor Society member, and a four-year varsity athlete in cross-country and track.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Theology from Saint Louis University in 2008, followed by a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the same institution, specializing in Epidemiology and Behavioral Science/Health Education.
Mala built her career at the American Academy of Pediatrics, dedicating 12 years to advancing programs focused on pediatric obesity prevention, child health policy, and advocacy. In 2022, she launched her own healthcare consulting firm, Thapar Consulting, LLC.
She resides in Hinsdale, IL, with her husband, Nitin, and their two children, Niam and Raina.
